Introduction to Jyotish

Saturday August 17 and Sunday August 18, 2019

Jyotish is the eyes of the Vedas and it is part of Vedic culture from time memorial. In Mahabharata, Karna told Bhagawan iKrishna about the the planetary positions at the time of the war.

No background is necessary to attend this Seminar. Course material will be given.

In this Seminar, we will discuss the Vedantic view of Jyotish as how the free will is part of Jyotish, and how our karmas are interlinked with our probable future. There are many misconceptions about Jyotish that one can’t change anything, whatever is written will happen. But we do have free will and it has an impact on whatever is written in stars. The Vedantic explanation about Jyotish will be discussed in this Seminar. We will also discuss the basic concepts of Jyotish including houses, planets, nakshatra, dashas, Mangal or Kuj dosha, Sade Saati, Rahu Kalam etc.

Rakesh Sharma has been volunteering at Gurukulam since the very first day Arsha Vidya started and has been a board member of Arsha Vidya. He has learnt Jyotish at IIT Kanpur as a part of Hobby Club, which was formed when 186 Nobel Prize winners wrote an article against Astrology.

Registration for the two day course: $125. All fees to be paid to Arsha Vidya.
